Center for Advancing Systems Science and Bioengineering Innovation (CASSBI)

Facilities & Resources

The core laboratory facilities for CASSBI include the wet lab and dry lab facilities and associated equipment in Peterson Hall (Rooms 3300, 3300A and 4000), as well as the small animal imaging laboratories in Krasnow. In addition, center personnel have access to Mason’s core facilities including the Biomedical Research Laboratory, the MRI Imaging Facility, and the Institute for Advanced Biomedical Research.

MRI Lab

George Mason University’s MRI facility is a state-of-the-art resource for Mason faculty, staff, and students, as well as others from the external research and development community. It houses a high field 3 Tesla Siemens MAGNETOM Prisma MRI scanner for human brain and whole body MRI imaging and is staffed by certified MRI technologists.

Institute for Biohealth Innovation

The Institute for Biohealth Innovation (IBI) unites 300 faculty and thousands of students across 34 departments and centers who conduct research with the goal of advancing human health and wellbeing at multiple scales, from individuals to populations. The team works with national and international collaborators to address six major areas of research to include infectious diseases, brain and behavior, cancer, injury and performance, environmental, reproductive and family health, and metabolic and cardiovascular health.

Bioengineering Centers & Labs

Mason’s bioengineering laboratories and centers are well equipped to lead the development of new medical treatments and technology that could revolutionize health care. Take a look at the capabilities and infrastructure available in our laboratories.
