Research Description

Sarah Fischer’s program of research focuses on how trait impulsivity influences pathology such as binge eating, bulimia nervosa, and substance abuse, as well as on how this trait influences loss of control over behavior in specific environmental contexts. Currently, she and her graduate students are completing a study examining the neural correlates of reactivity food cues under acute stress in bulimia nervosa, and how this influences eating behavior in daily life. They are also completing a study of how impulsivity interacts with acute mood shifts to influence decision making and eating behavior.
